Mass media is a prevalent tool in our society that is used to communicate with the general public. There are many platforms for mass media. Today we have the newspaper, magazine, radio, television, and the Internet.

Mass communication is the public transfer of messages through media or technology driven channels to a large number of recipents usually involving fee for the user.

The media influences so many people’s behaviour nowadays. The media can manipulate, influence, persuade and pressurise society, along with even controlling the world at times in both positive and negative ways; mentally, physically and emotionally

Influence on our daily life:

Media plays a very important role and affect almost every aspect of our lives. It is considered as the best source to know about the happenings of world. ... It greatly affects our lives because media has the power to influence our thoughts. This influence is sometimes positive and sometimes negative.

1.Global Village:

Due to rapid advancement in media, world has become global village. It is the best source to spread news and share knowledge.Due to media,we can get information of anything happening across the globe.

Around the Globe has become around the corner.

Today,we have easy access to knowledge of happening in the worlds, advancements ,detailed information about everything and thousands and millions of research papers and books.

2.Increasing awareness:

Media is educating people about their basic rights and how to use them. Now people know how to voice their issues and to whom they can complain.

Media creates awareness among common people and make them enlightened citizen. It create public opinion about burning issues of country and the world. It exposes scandles and built confidence of people.

3.Entertainment and education:

Media also serves as cultural transmitters that educates and entertains. Long before the advent of mass media, people were forced to entertain themselves. They may have participated in activities or attended live events. The advent of mass communication enabled viewers and listeners to see and hear and learn in real time from wherever they are.

Social media platforms take that entertainment factor even further. You no longer need to rely on radio broadcasters or producers to provide your entertainment. Any kid with a smartphone can upload a silly video to YouTube and make you laugh for hours.

Media provides entertainment to us and educate us.Children learn different skills by watching videos on youtube.People learn new languages through Internet

4.correlation:

Traditional news outlets once were the only arbiters of what was selected as newsworthy and of how broadcasters and journalists interpreted information. Alternatively, newspapers tapped experts in the field. Although publishers and news stations may have had their biases, most organizations maintained the old, hard-formed principles of journalism.

Today, social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook may indicate that often, no middleman exists, who can correlate events in an objective, interpretative way. Users can be fed farfetched stories that look like "real news," when, in fact, they are anything but. In particular, Facebook, has been the site of fake news stories that has caused the platform more than a few headaches. Although the company is an important part of mass media, it is not a news site.

Influencing culture:

Society not only continues to exist by transmission, by communication, but it may fairly be said to exist in transmission, in communication.” — John Dewey in Democracy and Education, 1916

In cultural studies, media culture refers to the current Western capitalist society that emerged and developed from the 20th century, under the influence of mass media. ... The expression media culture, on the other hand, conveys the idea that such culture is the product of the mass media (wikipedia)

Over the time it has been noticed that certain media outlets are involved in infecting our region with culture of some other specific parts of the world. For example adopting the tradition of Europe in many TV shows influences the audience in a way in which that foreign culture or tradition is adopted by the masses and it becomes a norm. Doesn't it seems obvious that some clandestined minds might have been involved in spreading this infection through means of media?

Media outlets are not only desensitizing foreign culture but also violence among the masses. Today crimes like corruption, killing and even rape feels like a normal routine to us. All of this is happening world wide in some way or another. Media is changing the culture all over the world. It is normalising the acts like violance and glamourising rape kinda crimes .

Decreasing level of tolerance:

Due to electronic media and social media, everyone can voice their opinions and share whatever they can.

When they come across anyone having different view point, they start abusing and making him feel low by hooks or crooks. It had made them more conservative towards each other view point.Bullying and harrasment is increasing.

As everyone puts everything on social media, people judge everyone’s life and had become far more judgemental.

Impact of fighting video games and cartoons:

In this age, video games are designed in this way that they are making youth extremist to some extent.Violance is promoted in games and cartoons which is making our new generation less tolerant and more destructive in life.

Even games of children have changed from hide and seek to wrestling. That’s why people are selecting extremist leaders for them…ughh…I can’t take name her.IYKWIM☺

I came across a question while reading that why does main stream media makes people to believe them rather than encouraging them to think critically?

I think it’s not only media’s fault.most of the people don’t want to bother about the authenticity of the news.they don’t bother to research about it or critically think about it.they just believe what they are told

What to do?

Listen to media but don’t blindly believe what you are told.criticaly think about it.

Use everything but don’t over use anything
